" running in the zoo is the normal thing to do "
A visit with Kash to Serenaide's recent gig at Esplanade yielded a disc worth of sparkling indiepop gems courtesy of Fruit Records. The title, " Peachy Little Secrets", is telling of its contents, 20 odd songs gathered from bands ranging from local to Indonesian and of course, Swedish that are common in their twee pop sensibilties, and are simply a pleasure to listen with a skip in the step and a cool breeze.

Hong Kong's entry in this compilation is a short ditty entitled " Japan ' sat gua' ". Whatever that means I have no idea, but one cant help but love the way the slightly accented singers bounce their lines off each other over a twangy guitar rhythm. And the lyrics., well it may sound like sweet nothings but what sweet nothings they are. Sugary twee, yet sung to a point so honest and sincere that one cant help but break out a slight innocent grin when the female vocalist delicately sings ' i say je pense à toi...'

My Little Airport has a couple of albums out, most of it in Cantonese, but equally shimmering and whimsical. Just head on over to their myspace if you do not believe me.
